Today is my dad’s birthday! Happy Birthday, dear old dad.

I just got off the phone with my kid brother, the gift-shopper extraordinaire (seriously) reminding him that today is a special family day and that he needs to hang with dad in our absence.

Suffice it to say, my dad is one of the coolest dudes I know. Not only is he the hardest working guy I know, but he also set the standard pretty high for most awesomest dad.

With that, I wanted to share some facts that you should know about my dad. After all, he contributed to my neurotic ways he is one of the biggest influences in my life.

  • Known for his timeless and meticulous fashion sense, Dad probably coined the term fashionista (or is it fashionisto for guys?), but may have pronounced it PASH-ionista.
  • Dad does not share his fashion secrets, including his most valuable accessories. He is known to hide his Gold Toe socks when his grown children step foot in the house.
  • If there ever was one, Dad is THE t-shirt connoisseur. You’ve done something right if he gifts you with a 100% cotton Whale Shark t-shirt.
  • If one of his children borrow misplace his tools, he blames the Verizon guy, Cable guy, mailman or whatever random stranger was at the house last. He makes a point to tell you this story (repeatedly) until someone is overcome with guilt.
  • Not surprisingly, dad is a dynamic storyteller– so dynamic, we laugh louder with each animated repetition.
  • Obviously, Bank of dad is generous and compassionate and often goes above and beyond for us kids. Most recently, when mom’s bus broke down on Sunday night, dad stayed up until 3am to see her off to ensure she made it NJ, so Jeff and I could make it to work and have a sitter.
  • But most importantly, for someone who was once dubbed “uncle grumpy,” dad’s recent promotion to lolo is a true testament to an incredible/hysterical/understanding and amazing father. Dad’s new role is so meaningful and life-changing that he’s literally speaking in tongues.

Happy Birthday dad! I love you and thanks for all the socks 🙂
